This morning I had the privilege to speak to a great group at the Perkolator breakfast, sponsored by the Monmouth County Chamber of Commerce, and Holmdel’s modern day Renaissance man, Al Aloisi.

It was a great opportunity to explain the E.A.T. concept of SEO to the group.  Google is looking for certain aspects to drive what gives you strength and “rankability”.

  • E: Expertise: Show through your content that you know what you are talking about and why customers should choose you.  No more of the generic two sentence, generic explanations of your service.  Why should someone choose you?
  • A: Authoritativeness: You have authority from other websites linking to you.  This comes from your offline and online relationships. Links from the chamber involvements, industry involvement, community outreach, etc. that shows Google and your visitors that you are active and authoritative in your part of the world, both from a geographic and industry perspective.
  • T: Trustworthiness: Make sure you have aspects to show to Google and your visitors that you are worthy of their trust. Show that you really exist.  Google specifically mentioned the BBB. Do you have a good BBB rating.  Show your visitors that.  Make sure you keep your site up to date and it is clear how to contact you in many ways.  Keep your site free of broken links and make sure you follow Google’s rules for meta-tagging and other key issues.

It was a great opportunity meeting everyone this morning and I look forward to attending again as a guest and maybe speaking again down the road.  Thanks to the Monmouth County Chamber of Commerce and to Claude Blanc, a great business coach at CHB Associates, for making the connection.

If you’d like me to speak to your group, please just give me a call or reach out through the site.
