SEO Consulting takes a lot of work. I’m not one to toot my own horn, but it takes years of paying constant attention to the rules and keeping my clients on the straight and narrow to be able to get tried and true results. I see a lot of outfits out there promoting themselves that they got a ranking for their clients.  That isn’t what SEO is about.  Getting one ranking is easy.  It is providing a long term plan that gets your clients regular exposure in search, increasing their traffic, bringing in more clients, and improving the bottom line.

Any hack can start a website and get you a ranking.  Typically you just aim really low at terms that seem relevant to the client but has no competition. This may impress those that aren’t savvy shoppers, but if you read my blog regularly or are up to date on search marketing, you know there is a lot more to it than that.  To me, pushing “A ranking” is selling snake oil.

I have worked for years doing things the right way with white hat SEO, knowing that it takes a little longer when you do it right, but it keeps you out of trouble.  When you do it right and people see results that stick and continue to grow, they keep coming back for more and tend to tell their fellow business owners.  I like to use my blog to teach people about SEO and how to make good buying decisions when you can’t do it yourself.  This week I point out my own success over the years, but also to help you understand, when looking for an SEO consultant, make sure they have a legit plan and know what they are doing and the whole sales pitch isn’t just that they show you a ranking in Google.
