This month at the SEO Workshop for the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce, I sat down with Dr. Glenn MacFarlane and William Denver. Dr. MacFarlane is a local dentist in Red Bank and William Denver is a local lawyer that helps with insurance disputes, business law, and other general legal services.
Between the two sites, we were able to dive into several issues and challenges facing local businesses in search. We dove into their link profiles, indexing issues and other aspects of helping SEO work for them. I taught them about the importance of good title tags as a first step to moving in the right direction and we finished by diving into their local business (N)ame, (A)ddress, and (P)hone consistency (NAP’s).
As I work regularly with professional service companies and dentists, I run into a lot of these issues regularly and was able to give them things they can do right away to help themselves and get a feel for where they stand currently. Then they can come to me to get moving over the top and start to dominate their market.
These were two great guys that know what they are doing in their own business; but just like everyone trying to run a business, need help with these other aspects of marketing and getting their names out there. The EMACC workshop is a great way to learn the basics and see the issues facing your own site to determine if you can move forward on your own or need help from a trusted professional like us.
