The latest You Can Be Found Anywhere finds me on the Grinnell Glacier trail in Montana. With the world as it is with smartphones in our pockets wherever we go, it helps if your business can be found by anyone, anywhere, when they need you. The You Can Be Found Anywhere series finds me explaining important SEO components while at a unique location around the country or the world. If I decided on that hike that I was cold and wanted to order a new hat, or wondered where I might eat for dinner, I would likely try to go to my phone and do a search. With a good search marketing plan, your business can show up at these convenient times when the customer guard is not only down, but they are actively searching and open to what you are offering.
Glacier’s Remind Us Our Content Shouldn’t Get Cold
Often as business owners we rank well for something and just let it go. Google values recency with content because the most recent updates or news tend to have the best answers. They don’t want to serve searchers stale information. If you see your rankings start to drop, it is worth revisiting some of those great pages and give them a freshening. If your content has gone cold, its ranking strength gets cold too. Update it with the latest information. There is likely something new and relevant to add to that article if you haven’t touched it in over a year. Think it through and tweak it to give it the latest and greatest information, and you may see those rankings that were dropping off suddenly pick back up again. Content is King in the SEO world, so keep your content interesting and fresh, and make sure it is thoroughly answering searchers questions. Even the most straightforward content should be looked at once a year just to make sure you aren’t making clear errors. I just found a restaurant the other day that was advertising their grand opening on their home page two years after the event. That just doesn’t cut it anymore if you want to stand out.
