One of my New Years Resolutions was to get out there more and help business owners understand how search works. I will be offering more free search engine marketing workshops, talks, and of course my social media show. I recently posted to social media an article discussing how 45% of business owners didn’t know what SEO was, yet knew it was important to be found in Google. Of the 55% that claim to know what it is, that doesn’t mean they know how it works and what is important. It is hard enough for someone that does it every day and has been doing it for over 10 years, to understand the ins and outs, let alone someone that has a primary business to worry about and can’t keep up to date with algorithm changes and advances in search technology.
In 2017 I will be making myself available in a number of ways to help businesses get an understanding of the search engine marketing world. I will explain the basics and, in some formats address specific issues for business owners. Once you have a better understanding of how everything works, you can make more informed decisions on how to handle your own search engine marketing. You can hire myself, do it yourself, or at least know enough not to get scammed by any of the less than trustworthy companies or the generic companies that don’t actually do anything to help separate you. It is tempting to go with the lowest price provider, but when that lower price is a waste of your money, there is no value. Be informed and make the right decisions. Below are the formats I will be using.
Search Engine Marketing (SEO, SEM, Adwords) Workshops
I will be offering myself to business organizations to offer one on one or two on one time to attack their specific website and competitive landscape and offer tactics that can help them improve their positioning or use of their budget. I have had chambers of commerce bring me in to help their members, and am open to other business or networking groups to offer the same to their members. Just give us a call to set up the logistics. Here is an example of a workshop I did with a dentist and a lawyer, focusing on their specific website needs.
Search Engine Marketing (SEO, SEM, Adwords) Talks
I am also offering myself to do less specific talks to large groups. I have talked to networking groups and chambers of commerce in the past. I’m happy to talk to your group or organization about anything search. If you want to focus on specific topics like Adwords or SEO, or focus on search at a broader level to get an understanding for the ABC’s of the topic. I have even been brought back for second talks to cover the DEF’s, once the ABC’s have been covered. Again, reach out and let us know. I will be speaking soon at a breakfast in Middletown.

As I mentioned above, I will also be providing a regular Twitter show, answering search questions as they come in through the month on the first Monday morning each month. You can ask whatever questions you want, and I will try to answer the best I can, given the format. For more detailed questions, it helps if you give me advanced warning. If I need to index your site for errors, for example, that can’t be done on the fly, but I can do it with some notice.
