On the surface no. If that’s all you wanted to know, there you go.
Google just restructured and basically separated in to “Alphabet” and “Google”. In a nutshell, as the title suggests, this was about money and investments. Investors have been afraid of some of the side projects that Google takes part in. Some prove very profitable and some go nowhere but these side projects like “Nest” and “Fiber” and the self driving car don’t necessarily pair well with the basic search side of things and it makes investors nervous. This new structures sort of addresses that and lets Google as a search business stand on its own as Google and the other side projects run by Page and Brin as more venture capital type stuff. This lets the guys still have their fun but keep the investors happy.
The state of search won’t change based on this decision. This doesn’t mean you don’t need to keep an eye on things as they seem to change every day, but this particular point is not something that is going to see you lose your coveted spots in the rankings.
