This past week I had a couple of opportunities to speak to groups about SEO and Google My Business. After a lunch and learn at the Eastern Monmouth Chamber office on Thursday, I went up to New Providence on Friday to give a hands-on talk about Google My Business (GMB), to the esteemed Neighborhood Networking Group. Many members of the group brought their computers so they could claim and work on their GMB listing as they learned from me. I love the opportunity to speak and teach small business owners how to harness Google and help it work for you and bring you more business. Look for more opportunities to hear me speak in the coming months in Monmouth County and then again up north as a couple of exciting programs are coming together where I will join others to discuss social media and other aspects of digital marketing as well.
GMB Posts, Services, and Q&A
With the NNG, we dove right into helping members learn the effectiveness of GMB posts. Posts have shown to be effective at helping Google associate your local business page with more specific services you offer. With a limited lifespan, it is important to post at least once a week to keep feeding Google with information. Often, a post will catapult your local listing higher in the rankings or even create a local listing where there was none before. It is well worth trying. Since many businesses still are not taking advantage, it is a great way to separate yourself from the competition. Google is rewarding business owner who interact with their GMB page via posting, adding pictures, responding to reviews, and answering questions. Keep in mind that anyone on the internet can answer questions that people ask of your business, so it is good to stay on top of it and frame the conversation the way you want it framed.
For those that are new to this, the below links will take you to how to videos for claiming and then posting to GMB. I would definitely take a look and do it yourself.
